He noted that he contacted her family and they were “devastated”.
Details on the Heartbreaking Shooting
Soldier Sarah Beckstrom, 20, was lost her life in a attack on Wednesday in DC.
Her fellow service member, Andrew Wolfe, twenty-four years old, is still in the hospital in serious condition.
Vigils across the state have occurred in their honor.
White House Invitation
The president stated he’s talked about a White House visit for the parents of both members of the West Virginia National Guard.
“I stated: ‘When you’re able, because that’s a tough thing, arrive at the White House. We’re going to recognize her,” Trump told the press. “And in the same way with him, whether he recovers or not.”
Community Response
Attendees gathered over the past few days at the high school in West Virginia to pay respects to Beckstrom.
Both she and Wolfe had been working with the state guard as part of Trump’s national effort to aid public safety in the capital.
Honoring Sarah Beckstrom
“Sarah was the kind of student that educators desired. She conducted herself with inner fortitude, a contagious smile and a positive energy that lifted those around her,” Hankins, the principal of her alma mater, stated to the Associated Press. “She was kind, considerate and always eager to help others.”
Service details for Beckstrom are yet to be finalized.
Legal Measures and Policy Revisions
Authorities have charged a twenty-nine-year-old suspect with one count of first-degree murder and charges of attempted murder while carrying a weapon.
The event led the government to pause refugee claims and cease granting visas to possessors of passports from Afghanistan.
Status of Andrew Wolfe
Andrew Wolfe, a resident of the city, began his service in February 2019 and is a graduate of Musselman High, as reported by the AP.
He continues to receive treatment and is “fighting for his life”, the state’s governor the governor said on a news program.
The state’s top lawyer Bondi stated on a news show that she planned to speak to the family.
Legacy of the Fallen Soldier
Sarah, from Summersville, completed her education from her high school in 2023 and enlisted soon after, serving as a law enforcement officer with excellence, according to the state guard.
“She had a lot of goodness and she definitely had fortitude,” he informed the crowd at the memorial. “Though her life lasted far too short, she has created a legacy that’s going to endure.”
