The Lionesses versus China – Female Exhibition International
Introduction
Greetings and welcome to the friendly game between the English side and the Chinese squad at London’s Wembley. The match is set to be a thriller with the European Championship holders taking on the current Asian Cup champions.
England’s national stadium is sold-out for the event, which will see the celebrated Fran Kirby recognized pre-match after her departure from the England squad before the Euros this past summer.
The team news will be revealed soon, but there was a last minute squad update for England. On Friday, the goalkeeper Khiara Keating withdrew from the squad with a slight knock, and so former number one Ellie Roebuck has been called up.
With Hannah Hampton unavailable, it will be intriguing to observe who the Lionesses' coach Sarina Wiegman selects in goal. That news and all the other updates are incoming before the opening whistle at 5.30pm GMT.
Team News
Squad details are now available. Anna Moorhouse is the starting keeper for England in the non-presence of Hannah Hampton and Khiara Keating.
England: Moorhouse, Bronze, Charles, Walsh, Le Tissier, Morgan, Mead, Stanway, Russo, Toone, Hemp.
Substitutes: Hings, Baggaley, Kendall, Wubben-Moy, Beever-Jones, Kelly, Kearns, Park, Blindkilde Brown, Roebuck, Clinton, Denton, Fisk, Godfrey.
We are awaiting the Chinese lineup now; when it comes through, I will share it.
