Cameron Norrie achieved the most notable victory of his career by coming back from a early deficit to defeat world No 1 Carlos Alcaraz with a stunning comeback in the second round of the Paris Masters.

Although he had earlier defeated Alcaraz on two prior meetings, this win represents Norrie's maiden win over a sitting world number one.

The British player, seeded 31st globally, also stopped Alcaraz's dominant streak of nine consecutive finals and 17 consecutive premier event wins, which was the best series of outcomes in the Spanish star's young career.

The top seed seemed to be advancing smoothly towards victory at the start as he sailed past the initial stanza. However, the British contender gradually battled back back into the game by serving with improved accuracy and dragging the Spaniard into lengthy, demanding rallies.
