Former Physician Faces Assault Charges Involving Thirty-Eight Individuals in His Care
Legal authorities have announced that a ex- physician has been charged with performing sexual assaults against thirty-eight individuals who were under his care.
The Grave Allegations
Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham is accused of numerous acts of sexual assault – comprising some against children younger than 13 – spanning the period from 2017 and 2021.
One senior prosecutor commented, “Legal teams have diligently worked to assist a thorough and intricate police inquiry, carefully reviewing the available evidence to determine that there is sufficient evidence to proceed to trial and that it is in the interest of justice.”
Scope of the Police Inquiry
These allegations come after what police described as a “complex investigation” into alleged assaults at two hospitals: a hospital in Stoke-on-Trent and a facility in Dudley.
Spencer is scheduled to appear at the North Staffordshire justice centre on 20 January.
Breakdown of Offences
The charging documents said the forty-five charges include:
- 15 counts of assault.
- Seventeen counts of assault by penetration.
- Nine counts of sexual assault of a child under 13.
- Three counts of assault of a child under 13 by penetration.
- 1 count of attempted penetrative assault.
