Esteemed Performer Pat Finn, Famed For Parts in The Middle and Friends, Has Died at the Age of Sixty.

US actor Finn, who appeared in popular television series such as Friends, Seinfeld and The Middle, has succumbed at the age of 60.

The skilled improv artist died at home in Los Angeles, California on Monday following cancer treatment since 2022, per news outlets.

"Pat Finn saw everyone as a friend - solely future friends he had yet to meet," his loved ones said in a announcement.

They noted that he had "embraced life completely - with zest and passion".

A Prolific Television Career

His debut TV appearance was on a show starring George Wendt in 1995, where he portrayed the titular character's brother.

He was also seen in a recurring role on Murphy Brown in the latter half of the 1990s.

He played the part of a party host named Joe Mayo in the show Seinfeld in 1998, depicting a host famous for delegating burdensome jobs to his guests.

During the late 1990s and early 2000s, he had guest spots on numerous hit series, including:

  • "King of Queens"
  • Friends
  • That '70s Show
  • House

He was most recognized for his portrayal of the character Bill Norwood in The Middle, featuring across eight seasons from 2011 to 2018.

His work in movies include It's Complicated (2009) and Santa Paws 2: The Santa Pups (2012).

A Life in Improv

Away from his on-screen roles, Finn was deeply involved in improvisational comedy and worked as a teacher at the University of Colorado, where he was a faculty member.

He was a member of a six-member improv team named Beer Shark Mice.

"Finn guided, supported, and advised numerous pupils throughout the years and it's nearly impossible to find anyone anyplace who has an unkind word to say about him," his relatives stated.

Offering condolences, fellow actor actor Richard Kind remarked there was "no kinder, gentler, funnier, authentic human being you could encounter".

"Consistently upbeat, assisting others to improve and be funnier. A great dad, a great guy," he shared online.

Finn is survived by his wife Donna, three children, and his mother, father, and brothers/sisters.
